These visual harmonics aside, Brandt and Moore tend to be studied monographically and by medium, like other artists of their time. Moore’s sculptures, drawings, prints, and textiles are often treated separately in books and exhibitions, yet his photographic oeuvre has barely been touched. Brandt’s later sculptural assemblages, exhibited in his lifetime, have been overlooked and seen as unconnected to his photography. This book, and the exhibition it accompanies, brings this work together and sheds new light on the interdisciplinary nature of art production in the twentieth century.
